Gourd Basket with Pine Needle Rim

Make a gourd basket. Perfect for a gift or to keep for yourself. Gourds will be pre-cut. Students will need to clean gourds, sand, and drill holes. Then we will sew white pine needles to the rim. We will be able to pick from a number of stains to finish the gourds. Gourds are around 4-5” in diameter. During this class, we will also go over the basics of making pine needle baskets. This is another great class to learn a skill for life.

Tips and tricks to keep your account from being hacked and spoofed.  Learn about authentication options, enabling two-factor authentication, and how to know exactly what you are sharing and who you are sharing it with.  We’ll cover what to do if your account has been compromised and best practices to prevent it from happening repeatedly. Students must have an audio- and video-enabled laptop, desktop, or tablet with reliable internet to participate in class. We do not recommend using a smartphone.

HeartSaver CPR/ First Aid/AED Certification Training

 If life-saving techniques might be part of your job, the Red Cross-approved Heartsaver training for adults, children, and infants covers CPR, first aid, AED, and even naloxone administration. This 5-hour class includes practice with life-size dummies that simulate the effects of life-saving interventions. The instructor will email certification cards about a week after training is completed. Instructor: 

Holistic Support for a Healthy Menstrual Cycle

Following the framework of Earth’s seasons, this workshop offers resources and information for folks who want to experience more ease in their body’s cycles. We will explore herbal and nutritional supplements as well as simple recipes and actions you can take to support a happier, easier menstrual cycle. Topics covered include commonly experienced pain and discomfort, mood and nervous system distress, irregular cycles, cycle tracking, digestive support, and much more. Everyone who registers will receive the recording of the workshop along with a multi-paged handout with plant profiles, recipes and other supportive information. Andrea Webb is a menstruating human, herbalist and mother in the Kennebec Valley of Maine. She is currently in private practice and has over seven years of clinical experience supporting folks through all their cycles and seasons. Students must have an audio- and video-enabled laptop, desktop, or tablet with reliable internet to participate in class. We do not recommend using a smartphone. 

Naloxone Administration

 Training Keeping Naloxone (Narcan nasal spray) on hand can help save a life. Having a kit nearby could help a friend, family member, or someone in the community in the event of an emergency. This Narcan administration training will guide you through how to use Narcan, as well as helpful information on opioids and how Narcan interacts with these substances. This training is free, on behalf of Healthy Lincoln County, a tier-two distributor of Narcan in the State of Maine. Upon completion of this training, you will receive one kit, with two doses of Narcan, to add to your first aid kit or AED box. Additionally, you will receive supplemental resources to have on hand should you want to review what was discussed in the live training event.

How to Get Hired: Focus on Performance!This one is all about interviewing, specifically how to use the S.T.A.R. method and how to give performance based answers that highlight your ability to do the work required, even if you don't have the skills and experience...yet.  If you want to set yourself apart from the crowd and increase your chances at employment, you have to learn how to focus on performance. If you're nervous about interviewing and want to learn some tips that will give you control as an interviewee, this is the class for you! 1:1 support is available as a follow up for anyone who needs interviewing practice.

Raye Leonard teaches a fusion of journaling techniques, including freewriting, proprioceptive writing, poetry and recipes, collage, scrapbooking, nature journaling, illuminated autobiography, and more.
